The Hong Kong Coalition Responds to the dissolution of

the Civil Human Rights Front

The "Civil Human Rights Front" (hereinafter referred to as CHRF) announced its dissolution today (15th). The Hong Kong Coalition believes that the dissolution of CHRF shows there is no place for illegitimate organisations in Hong Kong. The phasing out of such groups also helps society to move towards harmony and stability and allow Hong Kong to get back on track as soon as possible.

Since 2003, CHRF has spread separatist ideas, stirred up a terrible wave of hatred against the police force and encouraged the killing of officers. In 2014, CHRF incited the public to participate in the unlawful "Occupy Central" movement and conspired with the Taiwan independence movement to attack "One Country, Two Systems". During the anti-extradition bill riots in 2019, CHRF held numerous large-scale parades in blatant assaults against the administration. After receiving opposition from the police, CHRF ostensibly called off the rallies but still encouraged the public to attend illegal parades that triggered large-scale riots. It became the largest platform for chaos in Hong Kong and condemned many young people to jail. After the government implemented the Hong Kong National Security Law, CHRF continued to incite the public to participate in illegal gatherings, which led to violent attacks on the police. The nature of these actions is severe, and the impact on society is extremely terrible. CHRF received millions of dollars in donations from unknown origins, and the flow of funds remains unclear. The Coalition supports the police in strictly enforcing the law, conducting in-depth investigations of their illegal acts, and bring those responsible to justice. Law enforcement must also pay attention to the flow of their questionable funds to different platforms that seek to harm Hong Kong to avoid the resurgence of CHRF!

The Hong Kong Coalition reaffirms that all organisations that endanger national security and Hong Kong society should not be allowed to exist. The HKSAR Government should also continue to examine which groups violate national security laws and regulations and firmly enforce the law. Safeguarding national security and the social stability of Hong Kong is the joint responsibility of the government, society and individuals. The Coalition calls on all sectors of the community and the citizens of Hong Kong to support the HKSAR Government, jointly defend national security, safeguard Hong Kong's prosperity and stability to ensure a brighter future for Hong Kong.
