The Greater Bay Area Conference— co-organized by China Daily and Hong Kong Coalition — will be held on September 3, 2026 (Thursday) from 09:30 to 14:00 in Hopewell Hotel, Hong Kong.
The year 2026 marks a pivotal moment for Hong Kong, as multiple strategic opportunities converge. As China launches the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030), Hong Kong will begin public consultation on its first five-year development plan in June. At the same time, a series of high-profile Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) events will take place in the Greater Bay Area, including the APEC Finance Ministers’ Meeting in Hong Kong in October and the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in Shenzhen in November.
Against this backdrop, China Daily is organizing the Greater Bay Area Conference, to take place in early September. The event will serve both as an important platform for building consensus following the completion of Hong Kong’s five-year plan consultation and as an early opportunity for in-depth dialogue among leaders from government, business, academia and research ahead of APEC China Year. The conference will focus on key themes including financial connectivity, commercial aerospace, and artificial intelligence in education, exploring how Hong Kong can seize the dual strategic opportunities presented by the 15th Five-Year Plan and APEC, leverage its unique role as a superconnector, and contribute to the high-quality development of the Greater Bay Area.
The event will convene approximately 250 distinguished delegates, including government officials, consuls general, business leaders, and representatives from academia and think tanks.
